Assoc Prof Shaun Levick
Shaun is a landscape ecologist who gained his PhD from the Centre for Water in the Environment at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) in 2008.
He spent two years as a postdoc in the Department of Global Ecology in the Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University (California, USA), before moving into the field of natural hazards at GNS Science in Wellington, New Zealand.
For the last five years he was a Group Leader in the Department of Biogeochemical Processes at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry (Germany), where he lead the Landscape Processes group.
Shaun joined RIEL in April as an Associate Professor of Remote Sensing, and holds a joint appointment at CSIRO Land and Water. His research group works under the umbrella of GEARS - Geospatial Ecology and Remote Sensing lab:
